Green Events & Eco Event

The Schönbrunn Group offers you the opportunity to host your event in the Apothekertrakt or the Orangerie as a “Green Event” (in accordance with the criteria of the Austrian Ecolabel) or as an “EcoEvent” (in accordance with the guidelines of the City of Vienna).

Green Event or Eco-Event—which is right for your event?

A Green Event is planned and carried out according to the criteria of the Austrian Ecolabel. The requirements cover, among other things, energy efficiency, waste prevention, eco-friendly mobility, and sustainable catering. The Schönbrunn Group is certified as a Green Location—meaning the venue already meets the criteria. Applications are submitted through the Ecolabel Office.

An EcoEvent follows the guidelines of the City of Vienna and offers a great opportunity to organize events in a resource-efficient and environmentally conscious manner—even for smaller-scale events or those with a shorter planning period. The criteria are practical and easy to implement. Applications are submitted through MA 22 (Vienna Environmental Protection Department).

Applying for a Green Event – A Brief Explanation

Applications for a Green Event under Guideline UZ 62 of the Austrian Ecolabel are submitted online via the Ecolabel portal. There, you create a user account, complete your profile information, and enter the criteria for your event.

Once the general event details are complete, you can create an event report and edit the criteria.

The Schönbrunn Group is certified as a Green Location—you can select us directly from the partner database, which means the venue requirements are already met.

Applying for an ÖkoEvent – A Brief Guide
An ÖkoEvent is planned and carried out in accordance with the City of Vienna’s criteria.

Applications for an ÖkoEvent are submitted via the City of Vienna’s online checklist. After a one-time registration, you can enter the event details and confirm compliance with the criteria. You can pause the process at any time and resume it later.

Once all the information has been provided, you can apply for the ÖkoEvent or ÖkoEvent PLUS designation. After review by the ÖkoEvent team, you will receive approval via email and may officially promote your event as an ÖkoEvent.
